Week # 20 - 2009

Well - the California Redwood forest is world renowned. These trees are old & I mean very old. Here are some facts.... Their height is nearly 370ft. Their age is up to 2,000 years. Their bark - -yes that's the bark - is up to 12 inches thick & the base is up to 22 ft. in diameter. Now - the California Giant Sequoia are not as tall, but live longer - up to 3,200 years - & their bark can be up to 31 inches thick & they can have a base up to 40 ft. in diameter. Now - another fact. The Redwoods have a coastal range, while the Giant Sequoia have a inland range.
